BJP has won the Bayad, Una, Padra, Dholka, Patdi, Gandevi, and Viramgam municipalities.
The State Election Commission of Gujarat has started the counting of votes for local body polls in Gujarat. Voting for the local body elections took place on 26 April. The elections involve 4.18 crore eligible voters across district panchayats, taluka panchayats, municipalities, and municipal corporations.
– BJP wins the Surendranagar Municipal Corporation election; the party crosses the halfway mark and is well ahead.
– BJP wins the Nadiad Municipal Corporation election, crossing the halfway mark and moving well ahead.
BJP wins Bhuj and Mundra municipalities in Kutch district. In Bhuj, BJP wins 28 of 44 seats, including 6 unopposed. In Mundra, BJP wins 19 of 28 seats.
– BJP wins district panchayat elections in Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Amreli, Kheda, Panchmahal, Vadodara, Navsari, Valsad, Morbi, and Dwarka.
– BJP wins the Unjha Municipality election in North Gujarat. Out of a total of 36 seats, BJP wins 31 seats, including 22 unopposed. Independents win 5 seats. Counting is over.
– BJP wins the Sidhpur Municipality election in North Gujarat. Out of a total of 36 seats, BJP wins 26, including 3 unopposed, while Congress wins 6 and Independents 4.
– BJP wins the Porbandar Municipal Corporation election and is well above the halfway mark. Out of 52 seats, results for 34 seats have been announced (including 11 unopposed), all won by BJP. Counting is on.
– Congress wins the Dabhoi Municipality election. Out of a total of 36 seats, Congress wins 21 seats (including 4 unopposed) so far. The party sweeps six largely Muslim-populated wards (Ward Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8) out of the town’s total nine wards. Counting is on.
– BJP wins the Morbi Municipal Corporation election. The party is well above the halfway mark. Results for 32 out of a total of 52 seats have been announced so far, all won by BJP.
– BJP wins the Navsari Municipal Corporation election; the party crosses the halfway mark. Out of 52 seats, results for 28 seats have been declared (including 2 unopposed), all won by BJP.
– The BJP has won the Savli Municipality election by securing 21 of the total 24 seats (one unopposed and the rest through voting). Counting is over.
– BJP has won the Kadi Municipality election. Out of a total of 36 seats, BJP won 28 seats unopposed in Hindu-majority areas, while the remaining 8 seats that went to polls were won by the Congress party across two largely Muslim-majority wards. The winning Congress candidates from these wards are: Fiza Shabbirbhai, Nurjahan Muhammadhanif, Muhammad Musir Ghanchi, Bismillakhan Pathan, Razia Kureshi, Hajibibi Saiyed, Iqbal Sheikh, and Ramesh Chavda.
