Shantilal Shanghvi Eye Institute (SSEI), in association with Smart Commute Foundation, Cycle Chala, City Bacha, and BYCS, organized its ‘Miles for Sight’ Cyclothon today. The event raised awareness about the critical need for eye donation and vision restoration, while also marking SSEI’s second anniversary and National Eye Donation Fortnight (August 25 – September 8, 2025)—a program established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare since 1985. The Cyclothon was a powerful showcase of community support, with hundreds of participants, including doctors, staff, and cycling enthusiasts, joining the cause. An inspiring highlight was the participation of visually impaired cyclists who rode on tandem bicycles, symbolizing resilience and the life-changing impact of eye donation. The ride began at Five Gardens – Open Gym and concluded at the Shantilal Shanghvi Eye Institute in Wadala East, where cyclists were felicitated with medals and certificates. Established in 2023 by the Shantilal Shanghvi Foundation, a not-for-profit initiative of Mr. Dilip Shanghvi, founder of Sun Pharma, SSEI is western India’s premier tertiary care eye institute offering comprehensive subspecialty eyecare services under one roof. It provides high-quality, affordable, and equitable care, ensuring world-class treatment for every patient.
