After the coronavirus pandemic that has shaken the world, now a virus called Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) has entered China and scared everyone. Now three cases of this virus have been reported in India as well. Symptoms of this virus have been seen in eight and three-month-old children in a hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka. On the other hand, in Ahmedabad too, a suspected case of a 2-month-old child has been reported in a private hospital in Chandkheda on January 6. There are media reports that cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) have been found in Karnataka. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has detected two cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in Karnataka. Both the cases were identified during routine surveillance of new respiratory viral diseases, which is part of the ongoing efforts by ICMR to monitor respiratory diseases across the country. The health department said, “We have not tested it in our lab. A case of this virus has been confirmed in a private hospital. There is no reason to doubt this report from a private hospital. It is worth mentioning that HMPV is usually detected in children. 0.7% of all flu samples are HMPV. The strain of this virus is not yet known.”
What are the symptoms of this virus? :
This virus is called human metapneumovirus or HMPV, whose symptoms are similar to those of the common cold. In common cases, it causes cough or sore throat, runny nose or sore throat. HMPV infection can be serious in young children and the elderly. This virus can cause serious illness in people with weak immune systems.
