After almost 29 months, the Chief Minister’s chair in Maharashtra has now come from Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde to BJP. Devendra Fadnavis is going to become the new Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Eknath Shinde will now play the role of number-2 in the government. The reason for this is being told that Shinde has fewer seats. But when Eknath Shinde rebelled against Shiv Sena in the year 2022, even then the number of his MLAs was less than that of BJP. But still at that time he got the CM’s chair. Not only this, in Bihar, Janata Dal United (JDU) has fewer seats than BJP. Despite this, Nitish Kumar is taking charge of the Chief Minister’s post. The question being discussed in this situation is what mistake did Eknath Shinde make that led to his resignation as Chief Minister? In the recently held Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shinde’s army won 57 seats. Out of which 14 MLAs were dedicated to the Bharatiya Janata Party. The six MLAs who won are declared BJP MLAs. Among them, Rajendra Gavit from Palghar, Nilesh Rane from Kudal, Murji Patel from Andheri (East), Anmol Khatal from Sanganmer, Vitthal Lange from Nevasa and Vilas Tare from Boisar are the main names.
Can Shinde rebel against BJP?:
Before the elections, Shinde had also given tickets to 4 independents. Who became MLAs after winning the elections. It is said that BJP had a role in giving tickets to these independents too. In this situation, if Shinde rebels against BJP, he may lose the support of these MLAs. This is what happened with Mukesh Sahani in Bihar in 2022. All of Sahani’s MLAs joined the BJP. After which Sahani was in a lot of trouble. In 2022, the then Shiv Sena (Shinde) and BJP formed the government in Maharashtra together. Exactly one year later, Devendra Fadnavis also brought Ajit Pawar with him. Ajit’s coming together proved to be detrimental for Shinde. Shinde cannot exert political pressure on the BJP because of Ajit.
Despite opposition, Fadnavis formed an alliance with Ajit:
145 MLAs are needed to form the government in Maharashtra. Currently, BJP has 132 MLAs. Ajit Pawar has won 41 seats. And Shinde currently has 57 MLAs. But even if he withdraws support, there will be no impact on the government. When Ajit joined the NDA, there was a silent opposition to him. But Fadnavis continued to strongly support him. After the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the magazine organizer of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh also opposed Ajit. Even then, Shinde could not make him an issue in the alliance. After the elections, when Shinde went to his village and news of his displeasure came to light, Ajit became active.
