After the announcements in the elections, the Gujarat government has now announced only recruitment in which no government recruitment has been announced that will provide employment to educated youth except for police recruitment and GPSC direct recruitments. While on the issue of police recruitment, the Gujarat High Court had already directed the state DGP to submit a detailed timeline to complete the recruitment of more than 25,000 posts of police sub-inspector and police constable in two phases by September 2025 and September 2026. Meanwhile, the state government has started a continuous recruitment drive for various posts including sub-inspector, constable, intelligence officer. The Gujarat Police Recruitment Board (GPRB) has announced the recruitment of 12,472 employees for various posts including Police Sub-Inspector (PSI), Constable and Jail Sipahi. The state government has recruited in 2021-22, the official announcement came in December 2021 and it was for 10,596 where about 15 lakh people applied. The recruitment process usually involves a rigorous selection process including prelims -written exams, document verification and medical test. The written exam covers a range of subjects like general knowledge, current affairs, psychology, history, geography, sociology and science. A suo moto petition was earlier filed in the High Court regarding the role and number of police officers. This petition was taken in accordance with the 2019 directions of the Supreme Court. The issue was being heard in the Gujarat High Court before a bench comprising Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice Pranab Trivedi. On September 27, 2024, the state government informed the High Court that it is preparing a 10-year recruitment plan. The plan aims to fill the existing vacancies by September 2026. As of July 31, 2024, there are 1.28 lakh sanctioned police recruitments in the state, out of which 33,000 posts are vacant. Out of these vacancies, 25,500 posts will be filled through direct recruitment, while 7,725 posts will be filled through promotion. There is currently no advertisement for any large number of recruitments like senior-junior clerk, Talati or primary teachers, Forest Department in the Gujarat government, GPSC- Gujarat Public Service Commission is also conducting special direct recruitments in which recruitment is being done on the basis of special skills, studies and abilities, in which generally 12th standard or graduated candidates cannot even apply and on the other hand, there is currently no other recruitment for candidates- job-seeking youth in competitive examinations.
