More than 1 lakh cancer patients have been registered in the Cancer Hospital in Asarwa Civil Medicity, Ahmedabad in the four years from 2021 to 2024. In which the highest number of 25956 cases have been registered in the year 2024. The cancer cases registered in the last four years include 59059 male and 41059 female patients. There has been a 10 percent increase in the number of cancer patients registered in the year 2024 compared to the year 2021. In the last four years, more cases of oral cancer have been registered in men and more cases of breast cancer in women. In the year 2024 till September, 6889 cases of oral cancer have been reported in men in the four years, including 1457. In the year 2023, the highest number of 1880 cases and 1826 cases in the year 2022. According to doctors, oral cancer cases are more common in men due to tobacco use. On the other hand, 5328 cases of breast cancer have been reported in women in the last four years. This includes 1133 cases till September 2024.

According to doctors, oral cancer cases are also increasing in women. A few years ago, out of 10 cases of oral cancer, only 1 was reported in women. But in the last few years, this proportion has increased to four out of 10. Obviously, due to the increase in cigarette and tobacco consumption among women, the incidence of oral cancer has increased. Earlier, oral cancer cases were more common in people over the age of 50. Now this proportion has increased alarmingly in the age group of 18 to 40. Apart from this, many people use turmeric if they have a small lump in their mouth. In fact, even if they have a small lump, they should contact a doctor for precaution. Dr. Shashank Pandya, Director of The Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute, said, “The first two stages prove to be very important to defeat cancer. For which self-screening also plays an important role. If there is cancer, strong morale also plays an important role for the patient as much as medicine. After the age of 40, every woman should get a regular mammogram test every year. Since some lumps are not painful, many people make the big mistake of ignoring them. In fact, if there is even the slightest doubt, one should immediately contact a doctor for it.”
