India’s 14th Prime Minister and great economist Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 late on Thursday night at AIIMS in Delhi. The government has announced seven days of national mourning following the death of the former Prime Minister. Rising above party politics, not only all the veteran leaders of the country but also leaders from abroad paid tribute to Manmohan Singh on Friday. Seeing the way the former Prime Minister is remembered for his economic reforms and contribution to India’s development at home and abroad, Manmohan Singh’s statement that ‘history will be kinder to me than any media-opposition’ has come true. Manmohan Singh was the country’s first Sikh Prime Minister and the fourth leader to remain in power for the longest time.
