
Ahmedabad is set to host a grand Nagar Yatra on 26 February 2025, marking a historic religious event in honour of Goddess Bhadrakali, the city’s guardian deity. The event, deeply embedded in the region’s cultural and spiritual traditions, and taking place for the first time in the city’s history of 614 years, is expected to draw thousands of devotees in a grand procession through Ahmedabad’s historic landmarks. Dharmaraksha Foundation and Mavins Marcom have played a key role in organizing this grand Nagar Yatra to mark Ahmedabad’s Foundation Day. The event aims to honor the city’s roots and celebrate its enduring cultural and spiritual heritage. February 26 holds special significance for Ahmedabad, symboling its growth, prosperity and deeply rooted traditions. The Bhadrakali Temple, one of Ahmedabad’s most sacred sites, stands as the focal point of devotion for the city’s residents. Goddess Bhadrakali, widely venerated as the ‘Nagar Devi’ or City Guardian Goddess, is believed to bless the city with protection, prosperity and well-being. Her Feet(Paduka), revered as a symbol of divine power and wisdom, will be carried in a grand procession on a beautifully decorated chariot, accompanied by chanting of prayers and hymns by thousands of devotees. The grand yatra, commencing at 8:00 am from the Bhadrakali Temple, will pass through prominent city landmarks, including Teen Darwaza, Manek Nath Temple, AMC office, Jagannath Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, Ganesh Temple, Lal Darwaza, Electricity House and Bahucharaji Temple, before culminating at Bhadrakali Temple around 12:30 pm. Rituals such as aartis and prayers will take place at key locations along the route, culminating in Mataji’s Bhandara, a community feast open to all
