With cases of bogus doctors coming to light one after another in Surat city, Surat police conducted a 36-hour search operation in three different areas to identify and arrest doctors without degrees. During this operation, 14 bogus doctors were found in 3 police station areas after checking at 64 places, who were practicing either on the degree of another doctor or on a certificate of biomedical waste disposal. The police have now arrested the accused and seized various medicines from the clinic and are conducting further investigation. A spate of bogus doctors has broken out in the entire district including Surat city. The city police have carried out checks in different areas of the city and have so far exposed many bogus doctors. These scam doctors are earning money by compromising the lives of poor and working class families. Just three days ago, the police caught a bogus doctor from Limbayat, now the police have caught seven bogus doctors from Godadara area and four bogus doctors from Bhestan area and three doctors from Sachin. The police have arrested a total of 14 bogus doctors and seized various medicines from the clinic and are conducting further investigation. ACP Nirav Gohil said that bogus doctors are giving allopathic medicines without practice certificates, based on which legal action has been taken. Officers of three police stations in the I Division area of Surat city along with the Health Department team conducted checks at 22 places in Bhestan area. Investigations were conducted at 8 places in Sachin area. Four bogus doctors were found from Bhestan police station area and three from Sachin police station area, some of whom did not have degrees or did not have government-approved degrees. They said that many doctors were practicing by applying the degrees of other doctors to their clinics. Doctors with degrees used to visit these clinics only part-time and served there as soon as they were called. These bogus doctors were practicing themselves using the degrees of doctors with degrees. In some cases, medical practice was being done using certificates for biomedical waste disposal.
