
Historic Loading of Industrial Salt in Stainless Steel Containers from Gandhidham Area, The Gandhidham Area of ​​Western Railway has achieved a historic milestone in freight transportation. Mr. Ved Prakash, Divisional Railway Manager, Ahmedabad Division, reported that for the first time in the world, Indian Railways successfully loaded industrial salt in stainless steel containers from the Neelkanth Zone of Gandhidham. This innovative initiative marks a significant milestone towards the safe, clean, and highly efficient transportation of industrial bulk cargo. The Honorable Railway Minister, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnav, commended this innovative initiative in a post on x. The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Ahmedabad Division, said: “This successful trial of industrial salt in stainless steel containers is an excellent example of Indian Railways’ innovation-based logistics strategy. This will not only enable safe and clean transportation of sensitive bulk cargo, but will also provide industries with fast, reliable, and environmentally friendly freight solutions. Western Railway will continue to pursue such innovative initiatives in the future to promote ‘Freight on Rail.'” Fast and highly efficient trial During this trial, loading of 33 tonnes of industrial salt was completed in just 15 minutes, while unloading took only 5 minutes. This achievement demonstrates the quick turnaround time and high operational efficiency in railway freight logistics. The loading operation was successfully completed at the Weigh Bridge located near the Kandla Special Economic Zone (KASEZ).
