
In line with the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav to develop Hanuwantiya as a global tourism destination, the Tourism Department is making sustained efforts. As part of these initiatives, the grand inauguration of the Jal Mahotsav at the renowned water tourism destination Hanuwantiya took place on Tuesday, 30 December. Set amidst the serene and picturesque backdrop of the Narmada backwaters, the festival emerged as a unique confluence of tourism, culture, and celebration, welcoming the New Year in a vibrant manner.
Under the guidance of Minister of State (Independent Charge), Tourism, Culture, Religious Trusts and Endowments, Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi, and the able leadership of Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Culture, Home, and Religious Trusts & Endowments, and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, the formal inauguration of the New Year celebrations themed ‘Aqua Serenade in Hanuwantiya’ was conducted. On this occasion, Additional Collector of Khandwa district, Smt. Srishti Deshmukh, inaugurated the Jal Mahotsav by cutting the ribbon. The event filled the entire region with colours of joy, celebration, and festivity.
Hanuwantiya is endowed with exceptional natural richness. Spread across nearly 95 square kilometres, the vast reservoir, over 90 islands, tranquil surroundings, and rich biodiversity make it a distinctive destination. These attributes have positioned Hanuwantiya as an emerging hub of tourism, investment, and innovation.
