In Nana Chiloda, Ahmedabad, a young woman earning her livelihood by selling vegetables and fruits from a bullock cart was left distraught when the Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s stray cattle control team seized her bullockn. The team detached the bullock from the cart and attempted to load it into a tractor-mounted cage.
Despite the woman’s emotional pleas that the bullock was not stray but her only means of livelihood, the staff reportedly showed no sensitivity.Â
As the bullock was being forced into the cage, the distressed woman climbed inside with it, refusing to let it be taken away. Subsequently, both the woman and the bullock were transported together in the same cage to the Naroda Police Station.Ironically, the cart that was said to be causing traffic obstruction was left on the roadside itself, while the woman and the animal were taken nearly three kilometres away. Police intervened at the station, avoided registering a case, and after making a station diary entry, released the bullock back to the woman.
