Ahmedabad: The Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI), an organisation registered under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, concluded its latest series of fitness and sports
activities across Gujarat, engaging more than 16,000 participants from 25 districts. The activities were organised to mark National Sports Day on August 29. The initiative, organised by PEFI’s Gujarat chapter, featured over 90 diverse activities, including yoga, aerobics, kabaddi, Zumba, physical fitness challenges, tug of war and rifle shooting. The programme saw the participation of sports clubs, associations, schools, six universities, yoga centres, and more than 200 volunteers. Over 90 institutions across the state collaborated for the event. Each participant received an encouragement certificate, recognising their participation.
The initiative touched 16,000 people this year, with the PEFI Gujarat chapter setting an ambitious target of engaging one lakh participants next year. While Gujarat alone hosted more
than 90 activities, PEFI National organised events at more than 1,000 locations. Speaking about the event, Dr. Arjunsinh Rana, President of PEFI Gujarat chapter, said, “Through PEFI, we are committed to promoting fitness and physical education across the country. Our vision is to make sports and physical wellbeing a priority in every district, helping build a healthier, stronger, and more resilient India.”
