Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a Semicon India event on Tuesday, referred to the recently released GDP data and said that the numbers have once again proven that Bharat has performed beyond every expectation and estimate, and that nothing can stop the country now. “The GDP numbers for the first quarter of this year have once again proven that Bharat has performed beyond every expectation and estimate,” the Prime Minister said.“On one hand, many of the world’s economies are facing uncertainty and challenges related to economic selfishness. Yet, in this environment, Bharat has achieved a remarkable growth rate of 7.8 per cent,” he said.India’s GDP growth came even as the Donald Trump administration imposed 25 per cent reciprocal tariffs on India and an additional 25 per cent levies for Delhi’s purchases of Russian oil, bringing the total duties imposed on India to 50 per cent, among the highest in the world.
