A shocking incident has come to light from Ramnagar, Karnataka, where a woman sold her own baby to pay her husband’s debt. The woman sold the 30-day-old newborn baby without her husband’s knowledge. The case broke out when the husband complained to the police that his son was missing.
Sold for Rs 1.5 lakh:
A woman sold her 30-day-old newborn baby for Rs 1.5 lakh. The police have arrested the woman. Along with this, the buyer of the baby and two other associates have also been arrested. The woman said that the reason for selling her own baby was due to her husband’s debt. The baby was saved and sent to the Mandya Child Welfare Home. The woman’s husband had filed a complaint with the police on December 7, 2024, that his newborn son had gone missing from home and he suspected that something had gone wrong with the connivance of his wife. Both the husband and wife work as daily wage laborers and have five children. The couple was finding it difficult to run the household due to their low income.
A relative was made an excuse for being sent there:
The father of the newborn told the police, “On the evening of December 5, I returned home from work and found that my son was missing. When I inquired, my wife told me that he had some health problems and had sent him to a relative. Due to this, I went to work after having food and returned at night, but again my son and my wife repeated the same thing, but this time I was suspicious.” The complainant said, “When I got suspicious, I asked my wife for the number of a doctor or a relative. But she started making excuses, which led to a fight between us. After the complaint, the woman police went to meet the child’s mother. According to the report, an investigating officer said, “The accused tried to mislead her by saying that the child was with his relative.” However, after this, the woman confessed that she had sold her child to a woman from Bengaluru for Rs 1.5 lakh.
