Recently, irregularities have come to light under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya-Maa scheme. The state health department has taken strict action against such hospitals and doctors. Following which various errors and irregularities were found in Hir Children’s Hospital of Patan district, Nishka Children’s Hospital and Neonatal Care, Sonal Hospital of Dahod district, Centara Orthopaedic Hospital of Ahmedabad district and Shri Jalaram Children’s Hospital of Aravalli district and have been suspended from the PMJAY-Maa scheme. It is worth mentioning here that under which irregularities of 5 hospitals and 2 doctors have come to light in various districts of the state from December 2 to December 8 last week. The State Anti-Fraud Unit (SAFU) under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya – Maa Yojana, along with a team of expert doctors, visited the suspected hospitals committing irregularities under this scheme in the state. Sonal Hospital in Dahod was also suspended as it was found that there was no manpower and infrastructure as per the scheme guidelines and there was also a deficiency in the work related to infection control. While in Sentara Orthopedic Hospital in Ahmedabad, the fourth and fifth floors did not have BU permission, lack of staff and modular OT as per the guidelines and some excisable medicines were found, the hospital was suspended until the BU permission is obtained and the deficiencies are rectified. The fire safety certificate of Shri Jalaram Children’s Hospital in Aravalli has expired, and the NICU is not functioning as per the guidelines. This hospital has also been suspended until the fire safety certificate is obtained and the deficiencies identified are rectified. In addition, the SAFU team under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya – Maa Yojana has also visited other hospitals in the state. The records of the hospitals are being verified during this visit. If there is any violation of the guidelines of the scheme in these records, action will also be taken against these hospitals. Recently, incidents of irregularities have come to light under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya – Maa Yojana, due to which the state government has made a new guideline (SOP) for treatment including cardio, radio, chemo, neonatal care under the scheme, which will be announced soon.
