The city of Surat embraced the sport of Frisbee over the past three days as the Mixed Nationals Ultimate Frisbee Tournament concluded with a thrilling finish here at Rander Islam Gymkhana and Fountainhead School. Off-Season Ultimate (OSU) successfully brought all the action live through their exclusive broadcast of the event which was part of the National Championship Series. This landmark event showcased Surat’s growing frisbee culture as it played host to 19 teams from seven states across India.After three days of electrifying matches, Airborne from Chennai emerged victorious, with a nail-biting 15-14 win over Airbenders from Bangalore in a thrilling final that was decided on Universe Point. Surat’s Jumbish secured third position with a commanding 15-10 victory over Learning To Fly (LTF) in the third-place match.”The Mixed Nationals in Surat have been an incredible showcase of skill, dedication, and the unifying spirit of Ultimate Frisbee,” said Tahir Siddiqui, co-founder of Off-Season Ultimate. “This tournament not only highlighted the immense talent within our community but also demonstrated the power of the sport to bring people together across regions and backgrounds. By broadcasting these matches live, we aim to inspire more cities like Surat to embrace Ultimate Frisbee and nurture a new generation of players who value teamwork, inclusivity, and fair play.”The Spirit of the Game Award, representing the core values of Ultimate Frisbee, was presented to Stray Dogs in Sweater from Delhi. Airborne, the tournament winners, secured second place in the Spirit rankings, while Delhi’s GK Crazy finished third.Surat witnessed intense competition and exemplary displays of athleticism from top-seeded teams such as Airborne, Airbenders One, Stall7, and many more. Local teams, Jumbish and Jumbish Catchers, proudly represented Surat, showcasing the city’s promising frisbee talent.India Ultimate Mixed Nationals was live-streamed exclusively on the Off-Season Ultimate YouTube Channel, drawing more than 20,000 viewers over the weekend, with a cumulative watch time of over 2,456 hours on YouTube Live. The broadcasts were instrumental in expanding the reach of Ultimate Frisbee and connecting the growing Indian community to a global audience.The tournament stood as a testament to the “Spirit of the Game,” the ethos of self-officiation and fair play that makes Ultimate Frisbee unique. Players from diverse backgrounds united, demonstrating integrity, camaraderie, and inclusivity.With over 15,000 active players nationwide, Ultimate Frisbee continues to gain momentum as a community-driven sport emphasizing fitness, inclusivity, and teamwork. Teams from Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Pune, and host city Surat, demonstrated the depth of talent and enthusiasm propelling the sport forward in India.
