The story of Sharad Purnima
According to the story, long ago there lived a moneylender in a town. He had two daughters. Both the daughters ritually fasted on the full moon day. But the moneylender’s younger daughter used to leave the fast incomplete. While the elder daughter always kept this vow with full dedication and faith. When both grew up, the father got them married. Even after marriage, the elder daughter used to fast with full faith. The effect of this vow was such that he got its benefits. The elder daughter was blessed with a very beautiful and healthy baby. The younger daughter faced difficulties in having children. She became very upset and even the moneylender began to worry about her. The moneylender then called the Brahmins and told them about his daughter’s problem.
Finally, why was the problem happening?
The Pandits, knowing the seriousness of the matter, told the lender that your younger daughter does not follow the rules of Purnima Vrat wholeheartedly, that is why this is happening to her. After the Brahmins explained to him the method of this vrata, he fasted again with full observance. This time the younger daughter’s faith paid off and a child was born to her there. But the baby survived only a few days after birth and died. Seeing this, the younger daughter became more distressed and depressed.
Then the younger daughter laid her dead child on a seat and covered it with a cloth. And then called her younger sister and asked her to sit on the cloth on which the dead child was covered, as soon as the elder sister went to sit on the seat, as soon as she touched the cloth, she heard the cry of the child mysteriously that you were blaming me for killing your own child. . Then the younger sister said that he was already dead, but with your grace and touch he came back to life. From this very day the significance of Sharad Purnima Vrat Shakti has spread everywhere.
