Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) for 8 days in June, have been stranded in space for 8 months. The US space agency NASA has been trying hard to bring back Sunita Williams and Wilmore, but due to technical glitches, their return to Earth has been postponed until February 2025. Currently, Sunita and Wilmore are living in a 6-bed space center with 9 other people. Now today there is a new update from ISS. Sunita Williams has been appointed as the Commander of the ISS. His predecessor, Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, is returning to Earth today along with two other passengers. Sunita Williams has been put in charge of the ISS at a time when the rescue mission for her and Wilmore is about to begin. This is the second time that NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has been appointed as the Commander of the International Space Center. He had previously commanded it during Operation 33 in 2012. At eight o’clock on Sunday night, Russian space agency Roscosmos astronaut Oleg Kononenko handed over this responsibility to Sunita. Oleg and the three astronauts already in the ISS with him are returning to Earth on Monday. Besides Oleg, Tracy C. Dyson and Nikolai Chubb are returning to Earth. Russian cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko and eight other astronauts are returning to Earth on Monday. Before coming to Earth, he assigned Sunita Williams as the Commander.
