Gandhinagar : On Friday (13th September) 8 youths of Vasana Soghathi village drowned in the Meshvo river passing through Gandhinagar’s Dehgam taluk during Ganesh immersion. With the death of these youths, the atmosphere of the village became gloomy. Today (September 14th) the entire village was lit up with eight pyres burning simultaneously. In the meantime, tragic scenes were created. A Ganesh Visharan program was organized on 13th September at Vasana Soghathi village. So preparations were completed to see off Ganeshji with fanfare in the village. The villagers had to go to Meshwa river for Ganesha immersion. Meanwhile, some youths of the village had already reached the river and jumped into the river to take a bath. Then the villagers who were coming later for the discharge saw the youth drowning and tried to save them. But 8 people drowned and their bodies were recovered.
