As the demand for electric two-wheelers continues to grow, the government is also offering many benefits, including subsidies, to encourage people to buy electric vehicles. Keeping this trend, the government has extended the time limit of the subsidy on EVs for the next seven months. The central government through PM E-Drive on electric two wheelers Rs. 10000 subsidy has been continued. The government has extended the time limit of the subsidy plan available on these vehicles till March-25. On the other hand, they were giving subsidy of 50 thousand on electric three wheelers too. But the government reduced this amount from April-2024 to Rs. 25 thousand has been done.

Charging infrastructure will be enhanced:

Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy while announcing the government’s plan yesterday said that by March-26, we aim to have around 10 per cent vehicles in the two-wheeler segment and 15 per cent vehicles in the three-wheeler segment electric. Shows the need to increase the use of electric vehicles and increase charging infrastructure for clean transportation. The lowest GST is applicable on e-cars under the government’s scheme to promote electric vehicles. With only 5 percent GST applicable on the purchase of e-cars by the government, the new scheme is designed keeping in mind the previous two phases of the fam. The government is encouraging the use of EVs in public transport. For which the government has a provision to spend approximately 40 percent of the allocated budget (Rs. 4391 crore) on the subsidy of electric buses.
