As the grand Ganesh festival begins in Surat from tomorrow Saturday, different Ganesh organizers in different parts of the city are setting up Shreeji on Neetnavi theme. In it, the organizers of a society located on Sumul Dairy Road in Surat have established Sriji on the Jagannath theme and made a chariot like Rath Yatra and also made a statue of Sriji like Jagannath. Apart from this, the fact that the organizers are bringing a new theme to raise awareness about rape among the people after the Kolkata incident has also been kept quite unique. The Ganesha organizers of Shantiniketan Society located on Sumul Dairy Road, Surat have decided to make Ganesha celebrations eco-friendly like every year. The incident of rape of a doctor in West Bengal’s Kolkata is having huge repercussions in the country. An attempt has been made to create public awareness in a different way for the fact that such an incident happens in Gujarat as well. Organizers claim that something unique has also been done to create awareness to prevent rape in this Ganesha mandap. Yashesh Parmar, an organiser, says, awareness is needed in the way people are seeing the way rape is happening now, people are appealing to protect the girl child but we have put up banners in the mandap that instead of protecting the girl child, educate your son. The meaning behind this is that if boys are educated, they will refrain from such acts. Apart from this, it is also said to train the daughter not to be soft but to face and respond in such an incident.

Apart from this, like every year, Ganesha has been established on a unique theme. The Jagannath Rath Yatra craze has been increasing for the past few times. So this year we have established Sriji on Jagannath Rath Yatra theme. The chariot used in the Rath Yatra has been designed in an eco-friendly manner. And the statue of Sriji is also placed in Jagannath form. It is rare for Ganesha to be in the form of Jagannath, so devotees will have the vision that both Ganesha and Jagannath are one. Divyesh Patel of the congregation says, along with the worship of Lord Ganesha, service activities are also done by our Ganesh congregation. Every year we distribute tulsi saplings to the devotees. This year we will distribute saplings that give more oxygen along with a message to people to preserve the environment.
