Teacher’s Day is celebrated every year in schools and colleges and education is bright only through teachers. But in the real sense, many questions have been raised against the inability of the responsible system to fill the vacant posts of teachers in the primary, high school or college buildings for a long time, but they are not resolved and the system rushes to celebrate the teacher’s day. The quality of education will improve only when a properly qualified institution works in a systematic manner and only then the celebration of a true Teacher’s Day will be meaningful. There are 1309 vacant posts in district primary schools, 416 in high schools, 117 in university colleges and 43 in buildings and there is room for more as the time of retirement comes. Contribution of teacher is very important in society. A teacher not only teaches but also instills the virtues in a student’s life and strengthens the foundation. Identifying the work ability of the student helps in determining the direction of his life according to his interests. A good teacher does not scold the student by showing his deficiency but helps to overcome the deficiency. Every year on 5 September Sarvapalli Radhakrishna who was the second President of India was born on 5-9-1888 in Tirutuni town of Madras. He believed that education must be humane to be fulfilled. It should include not only spiritual training but also purity of heart and self-discipline. The teachers who make education fully interesting are also an important aspect. This day is celebrated by and through them. But in the situation where there are no teachers, even the teacher’s day fades away. If we talk about Bhavnagar district, the approved structure of 68 primary schools of the town primary education committee of the city is 665, against which 53 teachers’ posts are vacant in the current situation. So, in 920 primary schools owned by Zilla Panchayat, there are 1256 vacancies against the sanctioned setup of 6807. So there is a shortage of 63 teachers in government 86 high schools as against 278 in secondary schools. And 108 against 209 i.e. 50 percent of teachers are not available in U.A. Grant in Ed 134 high schools have 110 vacancies against the original intake of 902 in the secondary section and 180 vacancies in place of 630 teachers in higher secondary. When we talk about the university, Bhavnagar Univ. 25 seats are vacant against sanctioned institution of 43 in managed Shamaldas Art College.
M.J. 24 seats are vacant against 31 in Commerce College and Sir P.P. As against 58 in science, 36 professor posts are found to be vacant. So, 10 professors, 17 associate professors and 15 assistants and one professor’s post in pharmacy have become vacant in Bhavanam. Apart from this, 12 more posts of professors are found to be vacant in the grant in ed 12 colleges of the university. Thus 1309 in N.P., 416 in Secondary Higher Secondary. It has been revealed that 128 teaching staff posts are vacant in managed college buildings and 20 posts in granted and government colleges. Thus Teacher’s Day is celebrated but the lack of teachers in schools and colleges is not being met which is having a direct impact on the education work, for which the Education Department should also strive to meet the teacher’s day which is necessary. Today’s education creates knowledge but not foothold. Today children find learning burdensome instead of knowledge with fun. Children’s lives are crushed under the weight of books. Who feels sorry for the children carrying school bags like bulls? Both the teacher and the education have been affected by injustice and the goal of today’s student is to pass the Gokhi exam like a parrot. Schools that were considered sanskar dham have become abode of injustice. We have to think about the ways to overcome all these evils! Only if some concrete steps are taken, the celebration of Teacher’s Day will begin.
