Mumbai: A major tragedy occurred during Dahi Handi festival in Mumbai. As many as 238 Govindas involved in building the human pyramid were injured on Tuesday during the Dahi Handi festival. An official of the municipal corporation said about the accident that the injured Govindas have been admitted to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run and private hospitals for treatment. Dahi Handi is organized as part of Janmashtami festival. The festival is celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra. Govinda, who participates in Dahi Handi, forms a human pyramid and breaks an earthen vessel filled with curd suspended in the air.
