In Maharashtra’s Badlapur, there was an uproar after the incident of sexual abuse of two kindergarten girls. The angry mob jammed the railway track. The school was also vandalized. Police resorted to lathi charge to control the mob and internet services were also shut down. Now an FIR has been registered against 300 people protesting in this matter, in which the police have arrested more than 40 people, who will be produced in court today.
Central Railway GRP DCP Manoj Patil said that now the situation has returned to normal, railway operations have resumed. Currently, no clause applies. However, internet services will be down for a few days, so that rumors do not spread. According to the police, on August 13, two innocent girls were sexually assaulted in the school toilet. The incident came to light on August 16 when a girl told her parents about the incident. Accused Akshay Shinde was arrested on August 17. Akshay Shinde, the accused in the sexual exploitation case, was produced in the welfare court. NCP MP Supriya Sule along with party workers protested against the Badlapur incident against the Maharashtra government. Thousands of people gathered at the Badlapur railway station and staged a protest after the incident came to light on Tuesday. Because of this, the routes of 12 express and mail trains had to be changed. While 30 local trains were partially cancelled. Demonstrations turned violent in Badlapur, with angry mobs pelting stones and vandalizing schools. A bus was also damaged near Badlapur railway station. After nine hours, the police lathi-charged the railway station and vacated the protest.
Police Negligence:
The parents of the victim girls alleged that the police registered their complaint after 12 hours. Also, the police who came to the school to take the statements of the girls made the parents wait for three hours. According to sources, the police investigation revealed that the CCTVs installed in the school were not working. The parents expressed their concern as to why a female employee was not hired to clean the girls’ toilets. The school management expelled the principal, a class teacher and a lady attendant for the incident. Accused cleaning worker Akshay Shind was working on contract basis from August 1.
Order to try the case in fast-track court:
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Thane has directed the police commissioner to prepare a proposal for hearing the case in a fast-track court. The court sent the accused to three-day police remand. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has assured action against the school and said that the matter will be investigated quickly and the guilty will not be spared. The Maharashtra government has ordered the formation of an SIT headed by senior IPS officer Aarti Singh to probe the matter. The Maharashtra government has ordered the dismissal of three police officers, including a senior police inspector, for their negligence in investigating the matter. Also, a special investigation team has been formed to investigate the incident.
