The three-day session of the Gujarat Assembly is going to be held from Wednesday, that is, from today. However, question-and-answer session has been omitted in this session, following which only government bills will be debated. In view of this, apart from the BJP-Congress political speeches, the functioning of the House continues to be dull. However, there is no possibility of discussion on the short-term issues of the opposition, which will damage the reputation of the government. In this monsoon session, Gujarat Narcotics Amendment Bill-2024, Saurashtra Enumeration and Gharkhed Amendment Bill-2024, Gujarat Goods and Services Tax Amendment Bill-2024 and Gujarat Human Sacrifice and Adhori Practice-Prevention and Abolition of Black Magic Bills will be introduced. There are four Amendment Bills but only one is the Aghoripratha-Prevention of Black Magic Bill which is new. On the first day of the session, a congratulatory motion will also be passed on Narendra Modi becoming the Prime Minister for the third time. Meanwhile, the opposition has made preparations to surround the government. The opposition will create ruckus in the house by raising issues like Rajkot fire incident, bicycle purchase scam, recruitment of forest guards, killing of two tribal youths. Following the assembly session, the ruling and opposition parties called a meeting of MLAs late in the evening in which the strategy was formulated. Apart from this, a meeting of the Legislative Affairs Advisory Committee was also held. In this direction, teachers, forest workers, anganwadi sisters can protest on pending issues. Apart from this, it is feared that Congress’s justice yatra will also show opposition in Gandhinagar. For this reason, heavy police presence has been arranged in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly complex. Thus, the Monsoon session starting today will be a mere formality.
