Supreme Court order to farmers adamant on Shambhu border ‘Highway is not for parking, remove your tractors’

Shambhu Border Farmer Dispute: The Supreme Court has ordered the partial opening of the Shambhu border connecting Punjab and Haryana. While hearing the case on Monday, the court said that Shambhu border connecting Punjab and Haryana should be opened for women and children. In addition, the road needs to be partially opened at the Shambhu border for the movement of ambulances, essential services and local passengers. The court has also asked the Punjab government to talk to the farmers and convince them to remove the tractors from the Shambhu border. Taking a dig at the farmers who have been protesting with tractors at the Shambhu border for the past few months, the Supreme Court said that highways are not for parking vehicles. Bach has asked the Punjab government to convince the protesting farmers to remove tractors from the highway road at Shambhu border. The court has ordered the Director Generals of Police of Punjab, Haryana to hold a meeting with Superintendents of Police of neighboring districts within a week to find a solution for partial reopening of roads on the Shambhu border. Meanwhile, Bach also praised the Punjab and Haryana government for suggesting a non-political name for the proposed committee to talk to farmers protesting at the Shambhu border. The Supreme Court said it would soon pass a brief order on the terms of the committee to be constituted to talk to the protesting farmers at the Shambhu border.
