Mumbai: Tripti Dimri and Avinash Tiwari’s ‘Laila Majnoo’ has a unique record. The film has grossed more than what it did when it was first released in 2018, now it has been released for the second time in six years. When this Imtiaz Ali film was released in 2018, no one knew Tripti. But over the years, Thrupti’s fan base has grown many folds due to blockbuster films like ‘Animal’ besides highly acclaimed films like ‘Bulbul’ and ‘Kala’ on OTT. On the other hand, Avinash Tiwari has also emerged as a top performer in a number of OTT series. ‘Laila Majnoo’ has benefited from the fame earned by these two actors over the years. The film was re-released in Kashmir. It was such a hit there that the makers have re-released the film in several cities. It earned 75 lakhs on the first day and it directly increased to over 1 crore on the second day itself. It was a practice in Bollywood till the 70s-80s that old hits were re-released after years. However, the system of re-release was stopped after the era of video cassettes started. Now some classic films are released in elite theatres.
