BJP secures stronghold: Results of 1 Municipal Corporation and 66 Municipal Corporations, BJP’s power on 59: BJP creates record with hat-trick in Junagadh

In the local self-government elections held for the first time in the state with 27 percent OBC reservation, the counting of votes for the general elections of 66 Municipal Corporations, the midterm elections of 2 Municipal Corporations and the Junagadh Metropolitan Corporation elections is underway. In this election too, BJP has won a landslide victory and Congress has been humiliated again. While two big upsets have occurred. In which Congress MLA Vimal Chudasama has been defeated in ward number-3 of Chorwad Municipality. While in the Junagadh Municipal Corporation elections, Girish Kotecha’s son Parth Kotecha, who was the De-Mayor for 6 times, has been defeated. 61.65 percent voting has been recorded in 66 Municipal Corporations. Which is 3.35 percent less than in 2018. Overall, 65 percent of the votes were cast in the elections held in 75 municipalities in 2018. Out of 1844 seats in the municipalities, 167 seats were uncontested, and 4374 candidates voted for 1677 seats in 66 municipalities. Out of 167 uncontested seats in the 66 municipalities, 162 seats were uncontested for BJP, 1 seat for Congress and 4 others. The most talked about seats in the elections were Kandhal Jadeja’s for Kutiyana Municipality and Jayesh Radadiya’s for Jetpur Municipality. In the Junagadh Municipal Corporation elections in Gujarat, BJP has registered a hat-trick of victories in its own stronghold with a huge majority. Out of 60 seats in the Junagadh Municipal Corporation, BJP has won 48 seats. While Congress has won 11 seats. It is worth mentioning that an independent has won in ward number nine. Elections were held on 60 seats in a total of 15 wards of Junagadh Municipal Corporation. The lowest turnout in the local self-government elections was recorded in the Junagadh Municipal Corporation elections. This time only 40 percent of the votes were cast in Junagadh. While the highest voter turnout was recorded in Chorwad with 76 percent. Voting for the local self-government elections was held in Gujarat on February 16. In which an average of 57 percent of the votes were cast in the Junagadh Municipal Corporation, 68 municipalities, and three taluka panchayat elections. In the Mangrol Municipality elections of Junagadh, the performance of BJP and Congress was 50-50. Both got 15 seats each. Out of the total 60 seats of Junagadh Municipal Corporation, BJP won unopposed on eight seats. While 24 wards out of a total of 461 wards out of 66 municipalities in the state were declared uncontested. That is, out of a total of 1844 seats, 167 seats remained uncontested, out of which 162 went to BJP, 1 seat to Congress and 4 seats to others.
