A sudden fire broke out at the Mahakumbh Mela, 200 to 500 tents were engulfed in flames: 20 firefighters, ambulances, doctors rushed to the spot

A sudden fire broke out at the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a cylinder burst among the tents, due to which the fire spread throughout the area. Around 200 tents that were engulfed in fire were burnt to ashes. It took hours to control the fire. The fire spread in Sector 19 of Shastri Bridge, locals claim that around 500 tents have been burnt to ashes. However, local officials claim that around 20 tents have been burnt. After the fire incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the spot. Initial reports have revealed that a cylinder exploded while cooking food, due to which the tents around the explosion caught fire, the fire soon reached about 500 tents, huge plumes of smoke were seen in the air. More than 20 fire engines and personnel reached the spot to control the fire. Along with this, some ambulances were also kept ready. Although there are no reports of any casualties in the fire. But since many tents were burnt to ashes, the devotees may have to face great difficulty in the extreme cold. The fire was so fierce that along with the tent, the things kept in it were also burnt to ashes and the smoke was seen spreading up to 300 feet high. According to the report, the tent of Akhil Bharatiya Dharma Sangh Shrikarpatri Dham Varanasi, located in Sector 19 in the Mahakumbh region, caught fire first. Due to which the fire also spread to the surrounding tents. Kumbh Mela Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma claimed that about 18 tents were burnt. While locals claim that the fire had spread to about 200 to 500 tents. Prayagraj DM Ravindra Kumar told the media that the Geeta Press tent was the first to catch fire around 4:30 pm. While Geeta Press Gorakhpur Trustee Krishna Kumar said that this tent was not only of Geeta Press, people from Akhil Bharatiya Dharma Sangh were also associated with us. We have taken all security precautions. ADG Bhanu Bhaskar said that the cause of the fire is being investigated. There are reports that about two to three cylinders exploded. The fire has been brought under control now and no casualties have been reported, said the police. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached the spot and discussed the security issue with local officials. Additional doctors were also called to deal with the emergency situation. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also spoke to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the phone regarding this matter.
