On the last day of the first week of the winter session of Parliament, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was to present its report on the Waqf Bill. This issue was also included in the agenda of the winter session. However, the opposition MPs involved in the JPC were demanding an extension of the tenure. But BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, who headed this committee, claimed that their report was ready. However, the proposal to extend the tenure of the JPC has been approved a day before the JPC report was presented in the House. JPC President Pal had presented a proposal in the Lok Sabha demanding more time, which was passed.
Now what about the Waqf Bill? :
However, now not tomorrow, but the Waqf Bill will present its report in the House on the last day of the next Budget Session 2025. After the proposal to extend the tenure of the JPC formed for the Waqf Bill was passed amidst uproar from the opposition, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju criticized the opposition’s behavior.
